This adventure book was perfect for us as new fans of 5th edition. It was a great way to introduce us to the game and get us hooked. We loved how it started off as a low-level adventure and evolved into an epic campaign that took us all the way to level 15. It was truly an unforgettable journey.
We have to give a special shoutout to the Dungeon Master who ran this adventure for us. The book has been rebalanced to make it easier for new DMs like him to run it, and we could definitely tell. Me, John, recently got my hands on the Dungeons & Dragons Dragonlance Shadow of The Dragon Queen Adventure Book and I have to say, it’s absolutely amazing! The book introduces the Dragonlance setting to 5th edition D&D with a focus on the legendary War of the Lance. As a fan of both D&D and the Dragonlance series, this was a dream come true for me. I couldn’t wait to dive into this adventure and see how it all played out.
My friend Sarah joined me in playing this adventure and we were blown away by the mass battlefield play option. It was so much fun to strategize and work together to overcome challenges. We also loved that we could enhance 6 encounters by playing connected scenarios in the Warriors of Krynn board game. It added another layer of excitement and unpredictability to our adventure. We were completely immersed in the world of Ansalon.
But what really stole the show for us was facing off against Lord Soth and his army of draconians. It was an intense battle that had us on the edge of our seats. Plus, there were character options specific to the Dragonlance setting, like playing as a kender or utilizing Tower of High Sorcery magic-users. And let’s not forget about the included poster map of Ansalon and Kalaman theater of war. It was so detailed and really helped bring our adventure to life.
