Requirements

In order to install Aws Cli on your Ubuntu system, you will need:

  • Ubuntu operating system
  • Python 2 version 2.6.5+ or Python 3 version 3.3+
  • Pip package manager

Step-by-Step Guide

Now that we have all the necessary requirements, let’s dive into the installation process:

  1. Update and Upgrade Your System
    It is always recommended to update and upgrade your system before installing any new packages. This will ensure that you have the latest versions of all dependencies installed.
    To update your system, run the following command in your terminal:
    $ sudo apt update

    To upgrade your system, run the following command:
    $ sudo apt upgrade

    By default, Aws executable path might not be added to your system’s PATH variable. This means that you won’t be able to use aws commands from any directory unless you specify its full path.


    To avoid this inconvenience, we can add its executable path to our PATH variable by running the following commands in our terminal:
    For Bash shell:
    $ echo “export PATH=/home//bin:$PATH” >> ~/.bashrc
    $ source ~/.bashrc
    Replace “” with your actual username.


    Now you should be able to use aws commands from any directory without specifying its full path.
